India and Pakistan played the most attractive match in the ICC Champions Cricket Trophy 2017 at Edgbaston stadium- a large crowd of 24,156 – the highest for a one-day game in Birmingham and a television audience of about one billion watched the match. The rain intervened and cut the Indian innings to 48 overs and the Pakistan to 41 overs. India won very easily, by 124 runs.
India batted first and scored 319/3. Rohit made 91, Dhawan 68, Kohli 81, Yuvraj smashed 53 and Pandya blasted 20 off six balls. Hardik playing heroic shots for India hit three consecutive sixes for Imad Wasim.
In the long chase, Pakistan failed only to score 289 in 41 overs. Azhar Ali 50, Hafeez 50. The positives for India besides extemporary batting was India’s exceptional fielding. Ravindra Jadeja was superb in bowling and fielding both. With a massive margin of 125 runs India won the match, bowling Pakistan out for 164 runs.
